The Goodlife Marathon, now Victoria Marathon or is it back to it’s original name? I don’t know. But what I can tell you is that Rob Reid is working hard on improving the marathon after a quick chat in Oak Bay while I was buying oranges at a local grocery store.
After sitting on the waitlist for a couple of weeks, I was offered a seat, er…bib. You know, the race number that I will not agonize about tearing my fav sports tank with its elbow-shaped safety-pins. Given the excitement and expense of the race (now about $200): I sheepishly forfeit my luck in change of offer from wait list to full payment entry and hoped for a transfer. Lucky for me or fueling my like for spontaneity: through social media networking I was offered a bib that was paid for by a local tech company. And, it wasn’t due to injury of a runner: simply over booking.

I’ve run the race at least a few times, varying distances. I would love to be able to look up the race times more easily however the database of stats is still not as easy to navigate as a self-made excel spreadsheet. Anyone who can make money helping racers look up their multi-distance race entries under different names I applaud you!
I am the snob type of runner: the one who will vehemently defend the walkers and slow ones, the one who will cheer a 1 km kids’ entry… the one who misspells her own name occasionally. My former running store management personality shines in these moments. You know it’s a win simply to arrive and the start line. Life really does happen. What do you want to know about this race?
